The USYVL position of Clinician (Volleyball Instructor) is responsible for overseeing drills, practices, games, and team instruction of the fundamentals of volleyball.
Clinicians also manage the site parent volunteer coaches and assistant coaches to ensure the volunteer staff working with each team are running the drills, practices, and games correctly. Previous volleyball experience is required for this position.
Clinicians are offered a stipend that is paid at the end of the eight-week league season.
Time Commitment: The estimated hours to fulfill the duties shall be 3-4 hours per week. The anticipated time commitment for a Clinician is the full eight-week season, plus the Parent Meeting and Coaching Clinic.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1) Organize & supervise the parent volunteer coaches/assistant coaches.
2) Direct parent volunteer coaches how to perform volleyball drills.
3) Demonstrate the proper volleyball fundamentals to the kids directly.
4) Run Game Days and Tournaments.
5) Communicate with the USYVL National Office.
6) Attend 2 hour Training meeting.
7) Run 2 hour Coaching Clinic prior to the start of the season.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
1) Have experience playing volleyball or coaching volleyball at the high school, club, college or higher level.
2) Be able to give clear and precise directions.
3) Be dependable.
Head Coach

The USYVL volunteer position of Coach is responsible for helping players develop a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents. Additionally, they will be a good role model for the players, while teaching the proper volleyball skills as recommended in the USYVL coaching manual.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The Coach is expected to:
1) Complete a Volunteer Application and submit to the Site Director.
2) Attend the coaching clinic for training.
3) Arrive 20-30 min early to set up nets and review the days curriculum.
4) Monitor practices & attend regular game days & inter-site games.
5) Support the Site Director.
6) Cooperate with the Clinician on all coaching matters.
7) Have FUN!

The USYVL volunteer position of Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Coach in the duties to oversee and instruct teams and players. Assistant coaches help with running practices and games under the direction of the Clinician (Site Volleyball Instructor).
Assistant coaches participate in the instruction and teaching of technical and life skills. No previous experience is needed. Coaching clinics occur before each season and USYVL provides coaches with a curriculum manual.Time Commitment: The anticipated time commitment for an Assistant Coach is approximately 3 hours

Assistant Coaches are expected to:
1) Support the Clinician and Head Coach with instruction.
2) Attend the coaching clinic for training.
3) Assist with equipment set up and take down.
4) Carry out other team tasks as necessary.

Students who volunteer with USYVL can receive community service hours. Volunteering as an assistant coach for USYVL is a great way to fulfill high school requirements or community service hours that students may need to complete.
The weekly time commitment for volunteers is generally three to four hours per week. The USYVL volunteer position of First Aid Administrator is responsible for overseeing the safety of players, volunteers and facility area at the league site. A basic first aid kit is provided to each USYVL site and is available for practices and games.
First Aid Administrators and volunteers must have a current first aid training and CPR certification.
