The United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) opened registration for three-day instructional youth volleyball camps this summer. Summer camps are located throughout Northern and Southern California at locations including  Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Long Beach, Los Gatos, Moorpark, Sacramento, Thousand Oaks, and Torrance.

Camps are available for boys and girls ages 7-15.

USYVL Summer Camp programs focus on skill development to improve and enhance all aspects of player’s technique and proficiency on the court. Our summer camp program is for beginner, intermediate, and advanced volleyball players. To register or to learn more about the program, visit our summer camps website.

At our summer camps, participants learn in smaller groups according to age and skill level. These smaller groups allow our experienced instructors more time for individual coaching and instruction within a team environment. The player to coach ratio for USYVL Summer Camps is 8:1, which permits more flexibility and time for coaches to work one-on-one with participants.

Best of all, summer camps are fun! We work to create a positive environment based on mutual respect, rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude. For information on USYVL Summer Camp registration, locations, schedules or volunteer opportunities, visit www.usyvl.org or contact us at 1-888-988-7985 or [email protected].

About USYVL
Founded in 1997, the United States Youth Volleyball League is a non-profit youth sports organization that hosts more than 15,000 participants annually, nationwide. USYVL’s mission is to provide every child between the ages of 7 and 15 a chance to learn and play volleyball in a fun, safe, and supervised environment. One of the main tenets of the program is to encourage children to do their best with their abilities. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement, the program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem in each child.

#VolleyballStartsHere

We are ecstatic to bring a new USYVL program to Livermore, CA at NB Courts. NB Courts is a beautiful facility in Livermore where we will have five courts full of kids ages 7-15 learning and playing volleyball.

The program will run at NB Courts located at 6474 Patterson Pass Rd., Livermore, CA 94550 and is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 7 PM. Season runs from April 10 – May 31, 2018.

Here are some highlights that parents and participants will see with our new league:

• Ages 7-15 (Divisions: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15) (Age divisions are determined by child’s age on November 1st of participating year).

• While the program teaches children the skills necessary to excel in the sport of volleyball, the focus remains on participation, cooperation, sportsmanship, responsibility and, of course, fun!

• Furthermore, a season of league games is sure to provide plenty of exciting volleyball action.

• The USYVL is a family-oriented program where parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends are involved by volunteering.

When you register, make sure you sign up as a volunteer coach or assistant coach. No experience is required. There is a dedicated Clinician (Volleyball Instructor) at each USYVL site. As a volunteer, you will help the Clinician to monitor courts, assist with practice drills, and help with games. Our best sites are those where parents are actively involved with the kids to help them learn and play volleyball. To learn more about volunteer coaching with USYVL visit our, “Why Coach” page.

If you are new to USYVL, we encourage you to let your friends know about the program. We have a Refer a Friend program perfect for you to share the fun of volleyball with your family or friends. If you refer one of your friends to USYVL, we will send you a cool t-shirt! To learn more visit our Refer a Friend page.

Why should you sign up for USYVL?

Each league follows a handful of guiding philosophies that ensure the success of USYVL programs.

Open Registration
Our leagues are open to all children ages 7-15 who want to learn and play volleyball. Interest and enthusiasm for volleyball are the only requirements for playing with USYVL! All programs are eight weeks long and meet twice per week. One day is for practices while the other day is for games (two 25-minute games).

Every Child Plays
Our goal is for each child to learn and play volleyball. Our programs ensure that each child has the opportunity to actively participate as a member of the team. No prior volleyball experience is required. A volleyball instructor is on site for each practice and game.

Balanced Teams
We require that every site at the beginning of each season create teams that are evenly balanced. It is more fun when teams are constructed with equal ability. Our four-person format allows kids to play every position. Teams are grouped by four age ranges: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15. Ages are defined according to how old participants are on November 1st of the current year. All teams in the league are coed.

Positive Coaching
Positive coaching generates a great spirit to help each child learn and develop volleyball skills. We train and encourage our coaches to make the extra effort to understand the needs of each player and offer positive instruction to participants rather than negative criticism. Instruction includes learning the basics of the game including: serving, setting, passing, spiking, and blocking.

Good Sportsmanship
We create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude. Our programs are designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of USYVL.

The USYVL Board recently held a special event for the benefit of our Annual Scholarship Fund. The event featured the talented five-piece woodwind group, the “Ember Tones” and included silent auction items for attendees to bid on.

It was a terrific event where the Ember Tones entertained attendees that purchased tickets to the event in the Santa Rosa Valley in California. The group demonstrated their expertise in arranging their own musical numbers that created a memorable evening with music from some of cinemas greatest movies.

The USYVL Board wishes to thank those individuals that purchased tickets to the event and placed bids on silent auction items. All proceeds from this special event will be donated to USYVL’s Annual Scholarship Fund.

Allen Adams, USYVL Board President noted, “The USYVL Scholarship Drive provides funds for youth that otherwise are unable to participate in our volleyball leagues. It provides them an opportunity to grow, learn valuable skills, and improve their self-esteem which reflects in all areas of their lives.” Adams continued, “We had a wonderful evening and appreciate all that participated in our event, giving of their time and resources.”

Due to the generosity of attendees, USYVL will be able to support an additional 30 individuals who wish to participate in one of our volleyball programs this year!

Since 1998, USYVL has never turned away a child from participating in one of our programs because of financial status. We express gratitude to the USYVL Board and to the attendees of the event who continue to ensure that each child that wishes to learn and play volleyball will have access to our programs regardless of their financial situation.

Every child plays at USYVL!
